The Centre
We are pleased to present a collection and archive that fully reflects the many aspects and achievements of Roy Ascott over the seven decades of his work.
About the Centre
The Centre was setup as a resource by Roy’s Daughter, Claudia Ascott to support curators, artists, technologists, and scholars who recognise and celebrate the career of Roy Ascott - inspired by Ascott’s revolutionary exploration of art, technology, and consciousness - Technoetics.
The focus is on the intersection of art, technology, and consciousness (technoetics), as embodied in Ascott’s art and theory; exploring the implications of his pioneering concepts, first published in Cybernetica as Behaviourist Art and the Cybernetic Vision, along with his research programmes, conferences, and studios in the UK, Europe, and North America, including his current De Tao Technoetic Arts studio in the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts.
Ascott’s career spans over six decades, transforming how we perceive and engage with art and technology. His work in cybernetics and telematics has far-reaching implications, shaping how we understand and interact with the digital world. His ideas continue to inspire artists, researchers, and innovators around the globe.
An Online Centre for Art and Ideas
The Centre curates an extensive collection of Ascott's works, writings, lectures, and multimedia projects. Through the website, we enable access to these resources and engage with a diverse audience via seminars, workshops, and exhibitions.
The archive and resources are available by appointment only.
