Travelling to the Centre

Castillo de Locubín, while not a major city itself, is easily accessible due to its location in Andalusia, a region well connected by both air and land travel.

By Plane:

The nearest airports to Castillo de Locubín are Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (approximately 130 km away) and Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport (approximately 60 km away). Both airports are served by several international and domestic airlines.

From Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, you can rent a car and drive to Castillo de Locubín, a journey that takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Alternatively, you can take a bus, taxi or train from the airport to Málaga city centre and catch a train to Granada. From the Estacion de Autobuses in Granada, there is one coach daily (Monday to Saturday) directly to Castillo de Locubín, or there are more frequent coaches to the nearby town of Alcala la Real and then book a taxi (the taxi rank is outside the bus station in Alcala la Real, in front of the Brasserie).

From Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport, you can also rent a car for the drive to Castillo de Locubín, which should take about an hour. Or, take a bus or taxi to Granada city centre, then follow the instructions above to book a coach.

By Public Transport:

If you're already in Spain and would like to use public transport to get to Castillo de Locubín, the closest major train station is in Jaén, however, thre are more coaches that operate directly from Granada to Castillo de Locubin or the nearby town of Alcala la Real. Spanish Railways (RENFE) operates regular services from major Spanish cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Seville to Jaén and Granada.

From Jaén, you can then take a bus to Castillo de Locubín. The bus journey from Jaén to Castillo de Locubín is provided by various bus companies and generally takes about an hour.

Remember that while public transport is generally reliable and efficient, having your own vehicle will provide more flexibility to explore Castillo de Locubín and the surrounding Andalusian countryside at your own pace. However you choose to travel, the journey to Castillo de Locubín is a part of the adventure, offering beautiful views of the Spanish landscape.
